Red Queen and Red King Effects in cultural agent-based modeling: Hawk Dove Binary and Systemic Discrimination

چکیده

What endogenous factors contribute to minority (Red Queen) or majority King) domination under conditions of coercive bargaining? We build on previous work demonstrating disadvantage in non-coercive bargaining games show that neutral initial conditions, majorities are advantaged high conflict situations, and minorities low games. These effects a function the relationship between (1) relative proportions groups (2) costs conflict. Although both Red King Queen can occur, we further agents’ increased propensity toward advantages majorities.

The shift between the Red Queen and the Red King effects in mutualisms

Interspecific mutualisms consist of partners trading services that yield common benefits to both species. Until now, understanding how the payoffs from mutualistic cooperation are allocated among the participants has been problematic. Two hypotheses have been proposed to resolve this problem. The Red Queen effect argues that faster-evolving species are favoured in co-evolutionary processes beca...

The Red Queen and King in finite populations.

In antagonistic symbioses, such as host-parasite interactions, one population's success is the other's loss. In mutualistic symbioses, such as division of labor, both parties can gain, but they might have different preferences over the possible mutualistic arrangements. The rates of evolution of the two populations in a symbiosis are important determinants of which population will be more succe...

Parasite local adaptation: Red Queen versus Suicide King

Parasites are generally expected to be locally adapted to their hosts, but the basis of this prediction involves two distinct areas of research: coevolutionary studies of infectivity and epidemiological studies of optimal virulence. The distinction between infectivity and virulence is sometimes blurred but is crucial to our understanding of parasite local adaptation. Recent theoretical and empi...

Sex and the Red Queen

Negative frequency-dependent selection exerted by parasites and pathogens can generate a selective advantage for rare host genotypes. This mechanism, known as the Red Queen, is currently considered to be one of the most likely explanations for the predominance of sexual reproduction in natural populations. Even so, the extent to which the Red Queen can and does provide an advantage to sex in na...

Racing the Red Queen

Despite the discovery of antibiotics almost a century ago, infectious diseases continue to be a substantial cause of human mortality and morbidity worldwide, especially in developing countries. The adverse affects of infectious diseases are thought to increase over the coming years as the widespread misuse of antibiotic leads to the emergence of strains for which current therapies are ineffecti...
